Dental Care

For every dental patient, oral hygiene is an essential part of what they’re doing to help maintain the health of their gums and teeth. Brushing twice a day and flossing at least once a day are considered to be the standards by which we measure things. However, even if you follow the standard rules for oral care, you may still develop problems. This is why it is essential to visit your dentist at least every six months for a cleaning and check-up to catch any issues early on while they are treatable and reversible.

Cleanings and examinations are recommended twice a year for patients who have maintained good dental health. By seeing patients every six months, we can keep the issues to a minimum. When we end up seeing patients once a year, we find that more significant problems can develop. For those who have a history of gum problems or tend to get a lot of cavities, we recommend they schedule recall appointments every three or four months instead to prevent disease recurrence and stay on top of any new problems that may occur.

We recommend our patients receive x-rays based on their dental history. X-rays are an essential part of keeping your teeth and gums healthy. We use Digital radiographs to allow us to minimize your exposure level. These X-rays help Dr. Rhodes see what is happening between the teeth and what is underneath the gums. He cannot address any potential problems without those, and the patient may not be aware of them until they experience pain and swelling. When problems are detected early on, they are easier and much less expensive to take care of and deal with.
